How to be the Hostess with the Mostess

Planning an event or throwing a party can be a lot of work, but don't let that overwhelm you! There are tons of ways you can have a fabulous gathering without losing your mind or over spending!

1. Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest!! Start a board and pin all your theme, food, drink and other ideas in one place. This should help you narrow down your options and give you a sense of how things will flow. Also there will be lots of easy peasy dyi pins that you might not have considered trying!

2. Make a list and keep a schedule. As you accomplish tasks on your list, check them off and add items, as needed. As a working mom sometimes my brain can be, well, mush so for me a list is crucial! A list will also help you put your plans into perspective. We often bite off more than we can chew but don't realize it because it's not in front of us on paper.

3. Shop smart and support your local small businesses. Choose wisely when shopping, as in choose which items are best to buy where. For flowers, check out your local produce/farmers market. They may not always have cut flowers but their prices are usually so good you can actually get a few potted flowers for a fraction of the cost and then plant them once your event is over. Any paper products, plates, or even glassware hit up the dollar store! You will be amazed what you can get and the best part is, it's all $1! Lastly support your local small businesses for food/treats if not making your own. The care and quality these establishments put into their product is something your guests will notice and appreciate.

4. Set - up is key. While setting up for your event one of the most important tips is to always create balance. You want the party to have a good flow but you want it to look amazing too. When grouping items like flowers or candles remember to set things up in odd numbers and mix heights. Spacing and being conscious of access routes for guests to get their food and drinks is important as well.

Following these few simple steps can ensure that your attendees will have a fantastic time

and you can work the room knowing you put on one perfectly styled event!
